Abstract

In December 2019 in Central Java inflation occurred by 0.45 percent with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 136.71. Inflation occurred in six SBH cities namely Purwokerto by 0.51 percent with CPI of 134.88; Cilacap City by 0.50 percent with CPI of 140.75; Surakarta City by 0.48 percent with CPI of 133.10; Semarang City 0.46 with CPI of 136.59 percent; Tegal City was 0.37 percent with CPI of 134.71 and the lowest inflation occurred in Kudus City of 0.24 percent with CPI 145.17.
Inflation occurred due to an increase in the index in the expenditure group, namely in the foodstuffs group of 1.50 percent followed by the transportation, communication and financial services group by 0.33
percent; processed foods, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco by 0.29 percent; health group of 0.14 percent; housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel by 0.03
percent; and the education, recreation and sports group by 0.02 percent. While the clothing group experienced a decrease in index by 0.04 percent.
The main cause of inflation in Central Java in December 2019 is the increase in the price of eggs, onions, filter clove cigarettes, red chilies and air transportation. Blocking the inflation rate is the decline in the price of broiler chicken, kale, pears, barking and beans.
The inflation rate for the calendar year December 2019 and the year-on-year inflation rate (December 2019 to December 2018) was 2.81 percent
